Mint All Original Solid 18ct Gold IWC 8541B Automatic Chronometer 1969 with Box
This is an exemplary mint original condition example of a top line gents 18ct gold automatic wristwatch made by the world renowned premier maker International Watch Company or IWC.
It has the legendary IWC in house calibre 8541B fully automatic Chronometer grade movement with hack seconds regarded as one of the finest automatics ever made and known as the "watchmakers watch" as you can see it is in superb condition.
The dial is in mint perfect original condition, it has never been restored.
The attention to detail is what makes these IWC watches stand out from other manufacturers.
The movement has Pelaton automatic winding the most efficient winding system but very expensive to make.
The minute markers are small polished gold plated circles that are individually machined into the surface of the dial, everyone else like Rolex and Omega just used printed minute markers.
The seconds hand is domed along its whole length meaning that from any angle the light reflects along its centre line, these are very difficult to make, everyone else just used standard flat topped seconds hands
It has hacking seconds which means the the second hand stops dead when the crown is pulled out so that the watch can be synchronised for exact time.
The movement incorporates a rapid date set facility allowing you to set the date in a few seconds.
It has an armoured glass and the IWC fish symbol on the crown.
The 18ct armoured water resistant versions of the 8541b are exceedingly rare.
As you would expect the watch is fully marked on the dial, movement and case.
The watch case measures 35mm in diameter not including the crown.
It comes with its original box, IWC gilt buckle and its original IWC strap. The original IWC strap is a bit dried out and is a little brittle but it could be treated with leather oil to make it fully functional again.
It can be supplied with a new leather strap of any colour or style you prefer
The watch has just been fully serviced. It has been fully authenticated and found to be a genuine IWC in all respects. This watch has been fully and professionally overhauled, the process is highly detailed and meticulous. It is running to within original factory specification
