Near Mint Solid 18ct Gold IWC Calibre 89 Oversize from 1956
Outstanding Solid 18ct Gold Calibre 89 oversize gents wristwatch.
The attention to detail is what makes these IWC watches stand out from other manufacturers.
This is the legendary calibre 89 movement, with ruby jewels set into gold chatons, Geneva stripe plates with hand beveled edges and seconds friction adjust. Widely regarded as the finest movement ever made and known as the watchmakers watch, as you can see it is in fabulous condition having just been fully serviced.
The dial is perfect and unblemished.
It has the very desirable and solid 18ct gold oversize case which has had a light polish and a thorough ultrasonic clean.
The diameter of the case is slightly oversize for this period at 35.5mm diameter without the winding crown.
The serial number dates this watch to 1956.
As you would expect the watch is fully marked on the dial, movement and case.
IWC are one of the most exclusive watchmakers in the world and this watch certainly has that understated elegance that whispers class indeed this is one of the best examples we have ever had, a rare find.
