Very Rare 18ct Gold Omega Bumper Automatic with shooting star dial c1953
This is an extremely rare 18ct gold Omega bumper automatic, model reference 14319 dating from around 1953
The diameter is 35mm excluding the original crown which is quite large for this period.
The movement is the calibre 342 Bumper automatic.
An Omega "bumper" is a vintage Omega that has a "bumper" automatic movement rather than a full rotation rotor automatic. The oscillating weight makes a partial rotation before "bumping" into a cushioning spring. This is the earliest type of automatic movement.
The case is just stunning with sharp "Devils Horns" Lugs that are niceley swept back so that it just follows the contour of your wrist all of the edges are clean and sharp.
The real beauty of this watch is in its superb textured dial, It has been beautifully restored and looks as good as the day it left the factory. It has a subtle two tone surface with the most stunning solid gold shooting stars hour markers.
All of the hands are original and are also solid gold.
The case has all of the correct swiss and British hallmarks for solid 18ct gold.
As you would expect the watch is fully marked on the dial, movement and case. Overall this watch is in superb condition. It has clearly been seldom worn and an absolute must for Omega collectors. You will probably never see another.
One of the most beautiful and rarest vintage Omegas.
