Very Rare All Original Early IWC 8521 Pie Pan Automatic From 1953

£1,650.00Price
  • This is a totally original example of a gents classic wristwatch made by the world renowned premier maker International Watch Company or IWC.

This is a very early and all original  IWC calibre 8521  one of the finest automatics ever made and known as the "watchmakers watch" as you can see it is in superb condition.

This one is from the first year of production.

It is keeping time to within 3 seconds per day quite remarkable for a 72 year old watch.

The rare Pie Pan dial with distinctive inboard date is original and untouched, it has never been restored.

All we have done is service the movement and ultrasonically clean the case.

The attention to detail is what make these IWC watches stand out from other manufacturers. The movement has Pelaton automatic winding the most efficient winding system but very expensive to make.

The minute markers are small polished silver plated circles that are individually machined into the surface of the dial, everyone else like Rolex and Omega just used printed minute markers.

The seconds hand is domed along its whole length meaning that from any angle the light reflects along its centre line,  these are very difficult to make, everyone else just used standard flat topped seconds hands

As you would expect the watch is fully marked on the dial, movement and case.

The watch case measures 34mm in diameter not including the crown.

It can be supplied with a leather strap of any colour or style you prefer

The watch has just been fully serviced and comes with a 12 month warranty.

If you only ever buy one vintage watch make it an IWC.
