Very Rare Oversize Cushion Case Solid 9ct Rose Gold IWC Gents Watch c1930

£2,450.00Price
  • This is a very rare and early solid 9ct rose gold gents wristwatch made by the world renowned premier maker International Watch Company or IWC.

This the rare calibre 83 movement which is regarded as one of the finest movements ever made and known as "The watchmakers watch" as you can see it is in fabulous condition. It is beautifully finished with Geneva stripe decoration, polished bevelled edges to the plates and gold chatons for the substantial ruby jewels. This is the wristwatch movement that set the bar for all future watches and earned IWC their reputation as one of the finest watchmakers in the world.

Everything about this watch is original, the white enamel dial has not been restored or retouched in any way and is in superb condition with no hairlines or chips to the enamel.   The fine peacock blue steel hands are also original and perfect . The  winding crown is original the serrations are still crisp and sharp with just a slight loss of gold plating to the surface.  It has a solid 9ct rose gold case which has been lightly hand polished with a jewellers cloth to bring out the rose colour.

The cushion case is a rare oversize model measuring 31mm wide  most cushion cases of this era were a maximum of 26mm.

The case is in remarkable condition for something that is almost 100 years old with just a couple of dinks to the edge of the case back and another to the top left corner.

As you would expect the watch is fully marked on the dial, movement and the case is fully hallmarked.

This is a very rare IWC that is normally only seen in museum collections and rarely comes onto the open market.

You will never see another example of this exceptional vintage watch.
